Bringing a Sandringham Bayside Home to Life
We recently completed the interior and exterior painting of this beautiful home in Sandringham, just a short distance from the beach.
This was an interesting project to work on, with a traditional heritage-style facade at the front of the property and a modern, open-plan interior.
There were plenty of detailed areas that needed extra attention, including timber windows, decorative exterior lacework, large interior walls and a curved spiral staircase.
We love how this project came together and we're excited to showcase it with you!

Painting the Heritage Facade and Exterior Details
One of the main parts of this project was painting the home's heritage-style exterior.
The front of the property features traditional timber windows, decorative gables, detailed lacework and bagged brickwork, all of which needed a different approach to get a great finish.
Painting around detailed timber windows and decorative lacework takes patience. There are plenty of small edges, corners and hard-to-reach areas that need careful attention. If you rush through these areas, you risk leaving uneven coverage, visible paint build-up or missing some of the finer details altogether.
The bagged brickwork also needed careful attention. Unlike a smooth rendered wall, the textured surface has plenty of small grooves and uneven areas. If these aren't covered properly, you can end up with patchy sections that really stand out once the paint dries.
We used Natural White throughout the project, giving the exterior a fresh finish while keeping the traditional character of the home.

Interior Painting in Natural White
Inside the home, we completed painting across the walls, ceilings, internal doors and architraves.
The interior has a very different feel from the traditional facade, with high ceilings, large open spaces, modern timber cabinetry and plenty of natural light.
We used Natural White throughout the interior, including the walls and ceilings, to give the home a bright and welcoming feel.
One of the biggest challenges was getting a great finish on the larger walls and ceilings. With so much natural light coming through the windows and skylights, any imperfections in the paintwork will really stand out.
This meant taking extra care with the preparation and painting, particularly in the main living areas where the large surfaces are constantly exposed to natural light.

Painting the Spiral Staircase
One of the standout features of this Sandringham home is the curved spiral staircase connecting the two levels.
Unlike a standard staircase with straight walls and corners, the sweeping curves made this a particularly challenging area to paint.
Getting a smooth finish across the large curved surfaces was important. Any uneven painting, rough patches or visible imperfections would stand out every time someone walked up or down the stairs.
The staircase also has a number of tight curves and changing angles that required extra care when painting, particularly where the walls curve around the timber steps and handrail.
We're really happy with the result. The Natural White finish works well with the timber steps and handrail, allowing the staircase's unique shape to stand out.
It's definitely one of our favourite features of this project.

The Finished Result
We're really happy with how this Sandringham home turned out.
With the combination of traditional exterior features and modern interior spaces, there was plenty of variety in the painting work.
The detailed timber windows, heritage lacework and textured brickwork needed careful attention, while the large interior walls, ceilings and spiral staircase presented their own challenges.
Using Natural White throughout has brought the different areas of the home together while still allowing the heritage details and modern features to stand out.
Projects like this are a great opportunity for us to showcase the attention to detail and workmanship that goes into our painting, particularly when working on homes with a mixture of architectural styles.
