Bringing This Frankston South New Build Together

We recently completed the interior painting of this beautiful new home in Frankston South, near Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula.

This was a fantastic project to work on, with large open living areas, high pitched ceilings, curved architectural features and plenty of natural timber throughout the home.

With a new build like this, getting the painting right is an important part of bringing everything together. With so much natural light coming through the windows, there's little room for error. Any imperfections on the large walls and ceilings will stand out every time you look at them.

We're really happy with how this one turned out and excited to share some of the work that went into it!

A Four-Coat Painting System for the Interior Walls

One of the main focuses of this Frankston South project was achieving a high-quality finish across the interior walls.

We used Dulux Natural White throughout the home, applying a four-coat painting system to the walls with a matt finish.

Four coats take extra time and work, but getting even coverage across large surfaces is important. If the paint isn't applied properly, you can end up with patchy areas, uneven colour or visible differences in the finish.

This is particularly noticeable in a home like this, where large windows allow natural light to hit the walls throughout the day.

The extra attention paid off, and we're really pleased with the smooth matt finish we achieved throughout the property.

Painting the High and Pitched Ceilings

Another important part of the project was painting the ceilings, including the large pitched ceilings in the main living areas.

These ceilings are a standout feature of the home's design, but they also present a few challenges when painting.

Working across high and angled surfaces requires extra care to maintain even coverage. Any missed areas, uneven finishes or visible roller marks can be difficult to hide, especially when natural light comes through the large windows and skylights.

We took our time to get these areas right, achieving a finish that looks great across the large ceiling surfaces.

The Natural White works really well alongside the light timber flooring, curved walls and exposed brick features throughout the home.

Staining the Internal Timber Doors and Door Jambs

Alongside the painting, we also completed staining work on the internal timber doors and door jambs throughout the home.

The natural timber is a big part of this property's design, with timber flooring, cabinetry and doors used across the different rooms.

Unlike painted doors, staining allows the natural grain and character of the timber to remain visible.

Getting a great result requires care, particularly around the edges, profiles and door jambs. Uneven stain application can leave darker patches or noticeable differences in colour, which become obvious once the doors are installed.

We worked carefully across these areas to achieve a finish that brings out the timber's natural appearance.

The finished doors look fantastic against the Natural White walls and complement the other timber features throughout the home.

The Finished Result

We're stoked with how this Frankston South home came together.

With the large walls, pitched ceilings and detailed timber staining, there was plenty of work involved in achieving the finish we wanted.

The four-coat system has given the walls a great matt finish, while the Dulux Natural White works beautifully alongside the timber and natural brickwork throughout the property.

It's a great example of how much difference quality painting makes to a new build, particularly when the design includes large open spaces and plenty of natural light.

Projects like this are a great opportunity for us to showcase the attention to detail and workmanship that goes into our painting, and what really sets us apart from other painters.
